A very nice piece of work that involves projection and interaction, this could be used with personal identity and has given me a few ideas.

Research in Milton keynes and London

October 19, 2009 at 2:20 pm (Research)

At the weekend i took time out to travel up to Milton Keynes to see the brand new Orange store that had opened in the centre:mk, it is their first ever multimedia store that is designed to engage customers through seeing, hearing and touching. It is interesting to see how companies like Orange use a range of media’s to display and sell. They were using all live handsets and accessories to give costumers the chance to interact with all products, tv screens to link up the latest phones to show how you can interact with games on a screen, a 70 inch cinema screen used to advertise and educate customers and a big screen made out of a number of small screens that displayed pictures taken by people on their phones; and when you walked past this screen the pictures all changed to create a mexican wave through movement sensors.

On the Sunday i went into London as i wanted to see the Pop Life exhibiton at the Tate modern, visit a few other galleries if we had time and take photos. The exhibiton was a little smaller then i thought it would be but it was still good and gave me a few more ideas for my specialist project. I have emailed the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation to see if any exhibition had been done before by using projections inspired by pop art onto different backgrounds, textures and objects and i got a response saying they believe a project like mine has not been done before which was good to hear. I have also been thinking that i could create a show/exhibition that would go through the history of pop art and celebrate it by bringing it to life and displaying it in different ways.

After the Tate we went to the Saatchi Gallery where they had an abstract art from america exhibition on which was really interesting with some great paintings and then we walked around London taking in the great sights and taking pictures as you can see above.
